Here is a really late post of a few Christmas photos.
Being "Santa" was super fun for us.
We decided to stick with 3-4 presents each year for her and any future children. One from Santa, mommy, daddy, and one we pick out together. It's easy to get caught up in wanting to buy her everything, but we don't want our children to expect a lot. More importantly, I want to make sure their focus is on Christ and giving, rather than receiving presents. They will also have fun little things in their stockings. When I have multiple children I plan to let them pick out presents for each other.
A good friend of ours shared a wonderful family tradition they have been doing. I thought it would be great idea for our family. Each year their children pick out an ornament that represented them for that year or one they really enjoy. When the children move out they will have all those ornaments that represent them to use on their own tree. I didn't find one that represented her year, but I did find one that was cute and seemed to be a great start for this collection. It is a beautiful "S" in a yellow/mustard color from Target.
She decided to help Santa and eat the rest of the cookies. Smart girl.
Her main gift was her gift from Santa. It was the FurReal Friends monkey. It is pretty neat and very life-like, which is also creepy.
Stocking time consisted of snacks and fun books.
I bought her a fold up tent/fort from IKEA. She got the attachable tunnel for her 1st birthday.
Daddy's present was a very cute and thoughtful outfit he picked out from Target.
Time for the most important part, the Christmas story from her Bible.
We had a Christmas wordrobe malfunction with her shirt. The crisis was averted when her Nona (my mom) had bought a perfect matching top as one of her Christmas gifts. Convenient.
Awkward and typical family photos.... Check.
I know I said "just a few pictures", but trust me.... this was just a few compared to how many I have. This year was so much fun. She understood ripping the wrapping paper and the excitement of opening a present for the first time. All these pictures have made me so excited for this upcoming Christmas. Yes, I am already thinking about Christmas. It's my favorite time of the year.
